Session-1: Maintain Workplace Safety (HBSE)

Q.1) What do you mean by Workplace Safety?

Ans:- Workplace Safety means the safety or security of the place where the employees / employees work. We can also say that the working environment of a company is safe, healthy and well being for the employee there also comes in Workplace Safety. A safe and healthy working environment is the right of every employee/employee due to which the employee works without any fear and danger.

Q.2) What does Hazard mean?

Ans:- The simple meaning of Hazard's is danger or peril and it can be due to any reason. Any danger or risk that causes any harm to your health / safety is called Hazard.

Q.3) What are the dangers or hazards likely to occur in workplace safety?

Ans:- Workplace safety can include the following hazards or risks which are as follows:-

1) Physical Hazards:- Such hazards arise from the physical environment such as sliding off the floor, falling of walls and ceilings.

2) Electric Hazards:- Electricity means that the hazard or danger arising from electricity is called Electrical Hazards. Such as electric shock coming in contact with electric wire or electric short circuit.

3) Fire Hazards:- Fire in any way in the workplace is called Fire Hazard i.e. fire hazard. There can be many reasons for this such as electric short circuit, heating, flammable liquid etc.

4) Health Hazards:- In Health Hazards the physical fitness of the worker/employee comes as if a worker/employee does not have a physical problem.

Q.4) What is the use of First Aid in Workplace?

Ans:- Whatever we can do to save the life of any injured or sick person before taking him to the hospital is called First Aid or First Aid. To save the life of the person lying in that emergency, we can use any kind of nearby object so that the injured or sick person can get relief and be taken to the hospital as soon as possible.

Session 2: Prevent Accident & Emergencies (HBSE)

Q.1) What do you mean by Accident / Accident?

Ans:- Any such incident which happens suddenly or about which we do not have any idea about it and that causes damage to us or our belongings, it is called Accident / Accident as if a person / person falls in the office. If he goes, he also gets hurt somewhere and due to his fall, any similar thing can be broken such as Table, Computer, Crockery etc.

Q.2) What does Emergency mean?

Ans:- Such a situation or situation which is very serious and in which we need to take any action at once is called emergency.

Q.3) Tell about the types of Common Accidents / Common Accidents that happen in Workplace.

Ans:- The types of Common Accidents / Common Accidents in Workplace are as follows:-

1) Trip & Fall: - Sometimes due to some luggage or cable on the way, our foot gets stuck in it and we can fall. Falling can damage any of our body parts. 

2) Slip & Fall:- While walking on the floor and stairs, even if we are not keeping our steps well, there is a risk of slipping and falling, which can damage our body part.

3) Escalator (Moving CD) / Elevators (Lift) We should be careful even while getting on and off the lift, otherwise an accident can happen at that time also.

Q.4) What to do to prevent Accidents / Accidents in Workplace?

Ans:- To handle or control the accident in the workplace, the following things should be kept in mind which are as follows:-

1) First of all it should be ensured that all the employees are following the rules of safety precautions or not. If an employee does not follow the rules of safety precautions, then inform the supervisor.

2) Find out all the causes of accidents and remove them.

3) Safety equipment should be in the workplace such as Fire Exhaust, Gloves, First Aid kit etc.

4) First aid should be given to the person who is injured in the accident and take him to the hospital as soon as possible.

5) All the employees should be given training from time to time on safety tips and to help in case of accident.

Q.5) Tell me about the type of emergency?


Ans:- There are many such situations which are considered as emergency and the same type of emergency is as follows:-

1) Earthquake: - Earthquake / earthquake is also an emergency situation or situation.

2) Floods: - Due to excessive rain or a dam or a bridge breaking, a lot of water gets filled in an area, that is also called an emergency situation.

3) Fire:- A fire in a building due to electric short circuit or any other reason is also called an emergency situation.

4) Terrorist Attack:- Terrorist or any gang attack is also counted in emergency situation.

Q.6) What should be done in advance to deal with emergency situations in an organization?

1) The organization should have an action plan in advance, which can be used in emergency situations to avoid damage.

2) The organization should have all those equipment / similar which can be used in emergency situation like fire-exhaust, first-aid kit, rope etc.

3) There should be contact numbers and links of the external department which can be called quickly and the situation can be controlled such as Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade etc.

4) There should be a safety department in every organization which can prevent damage in such condition.

Session 3: Protect Health & Safety at Work (HBSE)

Q.1) What is meant by the General Evacuation Procedure?

Ans:- The plan or path we follow to avoid any emergency situation is called General Evacuation Procedure. In the general evacuation procedure, the designated person of an organization follows all the rules that help in getting out of the emergency situation.

Q.2) What evacuation procedure should an organization follow to avoid an emergency situation?

Ans:- To avoid emergency situation, an organization should follow the following evacuation procedure. which is like this:-

1) Every organization should have an emergency exit map with the help of which one can get out of the danger place quickly.

2) Every company should have a safety department and designated staff to prevent damage.

3) External emergency services should be easily contacted like medical, fire brigade, police etc. Who can come on time and control the condition.

4) If needed, all plants or organizations should be shut-down or electricity, gas, water supply should be stopped.

5) First Aid kit should be in every organization.

6) The organization should train its employees to handle emergency situations from time to time.

Q.3) In order to handle the emergency situation, on which topics should the Employees/employees be given training?

Ans:- To handle the emergency situation, the Employees/Employees should be given training on the following topics. which is like this:-

1) In an emergency situation every employee should know his role and responsibility.

2) Hazards and protective action plan should be known.

3) Warning and communication procedure should be known.

4) All employees should be able to operate emergency equipment such as fire exhaust etc.

5) Emergency shutdown procedure should also be known.

Q.4) What are the Causes of Fire Hazards in Workplace?

Ans:- There can be many reasons for Fire Hazard in the workplace, some of the main reasons are given below which are as follows:-

1) Electrical Short Circuit:- Fire Hazard The most common reason is electrical short circuit. Short circuit emits a spark of fire which later turns into a terrible fire.

2) Flammable Material:- Flammable material is also the biggest cause of fire, such as leaking of petrol, diesel and gas can also cause fire.

3) Combustible Material:- Even if there is any material like coal lying in the organization, there is a risk of fire.

Q.5) What 2 should be done to avoid Fire Hazards.

Ans:- What should be done to avoid Fire Hazards is as follows:-

1) Fire Exhaust:- There should be fire exhaust in all the organization, from which the fire can be stopped from growing.

2) Proper Wiring:- Electricity wiring should be done with proper and good quality wire.

3) Safe Storage Material:- Materials like petrol, diesel and gas should be stored in such a place where the risk of fire or their spread is less.

Q.6) What should be done to avoid Electrical Hazards?

Ans:- To avoid Electrical Hazards, the following things should be kept in mind which are as follows:-

1) The main power switch should be turned off before doing any electrical work.

2) Keep in mind that your hands and feet should be completely dry.

3) Gloves should be worn in hands and shoes in feet.

4) Non-conductive ISI tools should be used only like plier screw driver etc.

5) One should be alert from the material having heat surface.

6) Alert poster should be installed at the place of High Voltage.
