Firewall:-

The term firewall is used for hardware and software that prevent anyone from accessing network information and data. One of its major uses is to prevent outsiders from accessing the network. Anyone in a public network can access the Internet with a connection, but access to the private Internet and extranet is allowed only to legitimate users such as employees, suppliers, vendors, and customers.

Companies use firewalls in their internet and extranets to prevent unwanted users from accessing them. A firewall can be a software application or hardware device that acts as a bodyguard between your Internet and your computer. Firewall can be turned on from window setting i.e. from Control Panel with Window firewall option.

"A firewall monitors and filters incoming and outgoing network traffic based on a security policy, allowing accepted traffic and rejecting all other traffic."

This is the primary way to keep the computer safe from intruders. A firewall allows or blocks traffic in and out of a private network or user's computer. Firewalls are widely used to provide users with secure access to the Internet, as well as to isolate a company's public web servers from its internal network. Firewalls are also used to protect internal network segments. In simple words, we can say that Firewall is a protection wall that prevents viruses and unauthorized access to our computer from the internet. It keeps our computer system safe.

Types of Firewall:-

1) Hardware Firewall

1) Hardware Firewall:-

In big companies, all the computers are connected to a network, so if a virus comes in any one computer then that virus will come in all the computers connected with that network, then in such a situation above the model of the network to avoid the virus. A firewall is put in place so that even that network is not affected by any kind of virus and can provide maximum security. It is also known as router.

2) Software Firewall:-

There is a pre-installed software of a Window ie Operating System already installed in our computer which prevents viruses and unauthorized access from the Internet in our computer which is called Firewall. Or it can be purchased and installed which we call Antivirus. On the Internet you will find many such software for free that will protect your computer from viruses. Such as:- Avast Antivirus, McAfee Antivirus, Norton Antivirus, QuickHeal Antivirus etc.

Why is it necessary for a computer?

One of its major uses is to prevent outsiders from accessing the network. A firewall can be a software application or hardware device that acts as a bodyguard between your Internet and your computer. It is essential for computer. Without it your computer can be hacked. Your data can be stolen. Your computer may contain viruses that can damage your computer system. Therefore, to avoid all these problems, the firewall should be enabled in our computer. Firewall acts as a protection wall in any computer.

Where is FIREWALL Used?

FIREWALL is used in the Network so that the wall boundary i.e. protection wall can provide security between one network to another.

How does a fire wall work?

A firewall is a program that filters the information coming from the hardware device before sending it to your private network so that your data or program does not get hacked. It checks the traffic, Trojan blocks, Stops hackers, Stops the keylogger.
