What is Website?
Website:-
A website is a group of many web pages that are maintained by a college, university, government, company, organization or individual. The place connected to the Internet where the information of any organization, organization etc. is available. The collection of web pages is called website. That is, the website is a medium to keep many web pages together. Every website has many different web pages. Different information is stored in all these web pages. Most websites have a home page at the beginning which serves as a Table of Contents (TOC) in the site. Websites are of different types. Let us know them in detail.
Types of Websites:- There are different types of websites which are as follows:-
1) Portal:-
It is a website that provides various Internet services from a fixed and convenient location. The portal includes many links such as weather information, breaking news, free e-mail service, sports scores etc. Popular web portals are Reddif, Yahoo, MSN etc.
2) News Websites:-
It contains news related content such as articles related to current events, information about Life, Money, Sports and Weather etc. Yahoo News, Hungama Post, Google News, New York Times are popular news websites.
3) Information Websites:-
It contains factual information. Some organizations provide public transport schedule and its research etc. Almost all institutions have business and market enterprises website, which tells about their company's services etc. Motors Corporation, Pepsi, McDonald's and insurance companies etc. have websites. Some companies also provide the facility of online shopping from their website.

4) Blog Websites:-
It is a website in which you can store, organize and update all the information. Blog is also known as Webblog. Blogging is a very good medium through which you can publish your ideas, suggestions and stories. You can also see what others have published. Blogger, WordPress and Twitter are very popular websites.
5) Wikipedia Website:-
It is a website that allows the user to create, delete and modify the content of the website through a web browser. This is the popular wiki, Wikipedia. Various types of information can be searched from this website.
6) Online Social Network Website:-
It is also called social networking website where you can interact with people of your interest. On most social websites, its members keep in touch with each other through friends, their friends and their friends too. Orkut, Facebook and MySpace, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twiter etc are very popular social networking websites.
7) Education Websites:-
This allows you to find online information about reading and teaching. In this you can also know how computer works and how food is prepared. There are many educational websites available on the Internet, using which we can get different types of information. There are examples of some educational websites like:- instructure.com, quizlet.com, blackboard.com, brainly.co.id, grammarly.com, toppr.com, collegeboard.org, school.mosreg.ru etc ।
8) Advocacy Websites:-
In this, we tell about the ideas and suggestions of a certain group and organization. There are such websites fighting about the atrocities against animals and making them aware about the rights of common people. Some examples of websites related to this are as follows:- The Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession, The Southeast Recycling Development Council, The Lawyers’ Committee for Cultural Heritage Preservation etc.
9) Web Application:-
This is the website from where you can access the software from any computer connected to the Internet from a web browser, computer and any device and work on it. Following are the examples of web applications:- Google Docs (Word Processor, Spreadsheet) and Window Live, Hotmail, E-mail.

10) Content agreegator Websites:-
It is a website that collects and distributes web content such as news, music, videos and pictures for a fee or free of charge. Any individual and organization can have its own personal website or can be just a single web page. People make them to exchange their ideas and just for fun. Some examples of this are as follows:- Alltop, Popurls, The Web List, The Web List, Blog Engage, Travel Blogger Community etc.
11) Web Server:-
The computer that stores web pages on the Internet is called a web server. A web page is available to other people to view only when it is on a web server.
